Voyageurs National Park
Voyageurs National Park (VNP) is a water based park with its southern boundary the north shore of Crane Lake.
The four largest lakes (Sand Point, Namakan, Kabetogama, and Rainy Lake) were carved out by the glaciers and are all interconnected with boat access from Crane Lake. The hundreds of miles of shoreline trace out a vacationers paradise. Within the wilderness area there are numerous places to fish, explore, hike, and enjoy the natural north woods setting. The lakes are home to walleye, northern pike, crappie as well as small and largemouth bass. By exploring the bays and the islands offer a firsthand view of nature's back yard. From beavers working to eagles soaring and deer feeding along the shoreline affords one the opportunity to experience the sights and sounds that the original voyageurs encountered as they travelled the waterways.
With average temperatures in the 60-80 degree range make swimming by day and watching the stars and northern lights at night enjoyable
