Hunting for Loons
Had a friend swim by while I was out in the boat. He was a pretty healthy looking feller and was about 2 miles from shore. He said he was hunting for loons.
July Fishing
July fishing has been good. Walleyes, northern pike, bass, and pan fish have all been on the bite. With summer weather settling in the water has warmed up and stabilized. The May Fly hatch is past us and all the little fellers are getting hungry.
Really, Spring is here
Really, Spring is here at Crane Lake. The ice is out but this morning we picked up a couple of inches of snow just to remind us where we live. The water levels are rising and the fire danger has significantly been reduced. These are two good things.
End of the Trout Season
The moon is setting on the last early run for some late season trout fishing. However, the sun is rising on Spring. The snow is melting and the water in the beaver ponds is flowing so the lake is not far behind. 
Ice Fishing with Escorts
Given my past history with Canadian game wardens it has been especially enjoyable to have personal escorts when I go ice fishing. Love is in the air.
Winter Ice Fishing
Getting set up for a some walleye and trout fishing. The walleye chop was just right and we put some nice eaters on the ice. No live well required.
Crane Lake Christmas Tree
A Crane Lake Christmas tree decorated in it’s natural beauty. A White Pine with fresh snow does not need any decorations, she stands tall in her magnificent glory.

Our deer friends came by today and wished us a Merry Christmas. It is only appropriate for us to wish all of you and our dear friends a very Merry Christmas.

2015 Walleye Opener
The 2015 Walleye fishing opener is on Saturday May 9th. It is too early to predict how the Spring fishing will be, but all forecasts predict a mild winter with below normal snow fall. This normally leads to a typical ice out in April with good water for the walleye spawn. The only thing I know for sure is that fishing is always great and the catching is the individual challenge.
