Crane Lake nice can have some interesting twists and turns throughout the year. As I found out ice fishing with my Granddaughter. You can take the girl out of California, but you can’t take the California out of the girl. Well guess what, we almost did. Old Gramps was undone by the new ice fisher person. After multiple trips and multiple fish there was no beginners luck to it. I think we found a natural. When Grandma asked how her day was she replied,” I spent the day with a bunch of ice holes!” Grandma pondered that comment for a moment and I thought that was appropriate given the state of confusion I was in. Life is good.
Wow! Are those Lake Trout? How much do they weigh and how deep are you fishing?
The fish are lake trout and they were around 5-6 pounds. We normally ice fish in water that is 40-50 feet deep. These were caught at 40 feet.
Wow! Those fish are something else and Shelby looks like Rob! Kyle and friends are ice fishing out front in Maine and I doubt they will catch anything 1/3 that big – IF they catch anything at all.
Mike and I can’t WAIT to return to Crane Lake,Mn. It is certainly GOD’S Country! The walleye and northern pike are like no other fish. The walleye feast that we had after a day of fishing was well worth the work and we will definitely have another fish fry when we return in July,2014!! We stayed in the honeymoon cabin since we are young at heart and act like young Honeymooners! One has to book early because the cabins book up fast.
